About Redway CDP, California

Redway is a census-designated place in Humboldt County, California, United States. The population was 1,425 at the 2010 census, up from 1,263 at the 2000 census. It is the county seat of Humboldt County.

The town is named after Cyrus G. Redway, who laid out the town in 1884. The first post office in the town was established in 1885.

The primary economic activity in Redway is tourism. The town is located near several state and national parks, including Redwoods National Park, Humboldt State Park, and Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park. The town is also home to the Mateel Community Center, which hosts various events throughout the year.
