About Richvale CDP, California

Richvale is a census-designated place (CDP) in Butte County, California, United States. The population was 2,253 at the 2010 census, up from 1,977 at the 2000 census.

Richvale is located in southern Butte County, 5 miles (8 km) east of Biggs and 14 miles (23 km) northwest of Oroville. It is bordered to the south by the city of Gridley. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 1.5 square miles (3.9 km2), all of it land.

The Richvale post office opened in 1854. The name honors an early settler, James S. Richmond.

Richmond Avenue in Richvale is named for him.
