About Santa Venetia CDP, California

Santa Venetia is a census-designated place (CDP) in Marin County, California, United States. Santa Venetia is located 2.5 miles (4.0 km) north of downtown San Rafael, at an elevation of 56 feet (17 m). The population was 4,292 at the 2010 census.

Santa Venetia was originally developed in the 1920s as a residential subdivision. The name Santa Venetia was chosen because of its similarity to Venice, Italy. The main streets in the subdivision are named after Italian cities. The subdivision was annexed by the City of San Rafael in 1965.

Today, Santa Venetia is a diverse community with a mix of single-family homes, apartments, and businesses. The community is served by the San Rafael City Schools District. There are two elementary schools in Santa Venetia: Venetia Valley School and Wade Thomas School.
