Shelter Cove is a census-designated place (CDP) in Humboldt County, California, United States. The population was 1,258 at the 2010 census, up from 1,195 at the 2000 census. It is located on the north coast of the state, on Humboldt Bay, approximately 15mi southwest of Eureka, the county seat.
The town of Shelter Cove is a popular tourist destination due to its scenic beauty and its proximity to many outdoor activities such as hiking, fishing, and camping. The town is also home to several businesses including a grocery store, a gas station, and a post office.
