About Sunol CDP, California
Sunol is a census-designated place (CDP) in Alameda County, California, United States. The population was 913 at the 2010 census.
Sunol was named after Antonio Suñol, a Californio ranchero who owned Rancho Valle de San Jose. The town was laid out in 1866 on part of his rancho by William E. Ross, a nephew of James Ross. Ross also built the first hotel and store in the town. The Central Pacific Railroad reached Sunol in 1870.
