Tecopa is a census-designated place in Inyo County, California, United States. The population was 190 at the 2010 census, up from 167 at the 2000 census. It is located on the western border of Death Valley National Park, next to its southernmost entrance.

The community is inside area code 760 and has the ZIP code 92389. It lies at an elevation of 1,370 feet (418 m). The town is named after Chief Tecopa of the Paiute tribe who inhabited the region.

The place was originally settled by ranchers in the late 19th century. A post office was established in 1903. The town’s economy declined after the construction of the nearby Shoshone Dam in 1906, which diverted water away from the area.
