About Washington CDP, California

Washington CDP is a census-designated place in Humboldt County, California. It is located on the north coast of the state, about halfway between Eureka and Arcata. The population was 1,642 at the 2010 census.

The community was originally established as a logging camp in the late 19th century. It was named after George Washington, the first President of the United States. The camp became a town in the early 20th century, and grew rapidly during the timber boom of the 1950s and 1960s.
