Watsonville is a city in Santa Cruz County, California. The population was 51,199 at the 2010 census. It is located on the central coast of California, about 30 miles (50 km) south of downtown San Jose and 80 miles (130 km) south of San Francisco.

Watsonville is home to people of varied ethnic backgrounds. In 2010, 40% of Watsonville’s population was Latino, 32% was non-Hispanic white, 14% was Asian, 12% was black or African American, and 2% was American Indian or Alaska Native. There is also a significant Pacific Islander community, with over 5% of the population identifying as Native Hawaiian or other Pacific Islander.

The economy of Watsonville is largely based on agriculture, with strawberries being the primary crop. The city also has a growing tourism industry, due to its location on the California Coast and its proximity to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.
