About Coulterville CDP, California

Coulterville CDP, California is a census-designated place in Mariposa County, California. It is located in the Sierra Nevada foothills, northeast of Yosemite National Park. As of the 2010 census, the population was 542.

The town was founded in 1851 and is named after George W. Coulter, one of its first settlers. The town grew rapidly during the California Gold Rush, but declined after mining operations ended in the area. Today, Coulterville is a small town with a population of less than 600 people. It is a popular tourist destination for those visiting Yosemite National Park.
