Cottonwood CDP, California is a census-designated place (CDP) in Shasta County, California, United States. The population was 3,316 at the 2010 census, up from 2,582 at the 2000 census.

Cottonwood is located on the north side of the Sacramento River, 10 miles (16 km) east of Redding. According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 5.0 square miles (13 km2), all of it land.

The 2010 United States Census reported that Cottonwood CDP had a population of 3,316. The racial makeup of Cottonwood CDP was 72.7% White, 1.3% African American, 2.1% Native American, 1.8% Asian, 0.4% Pacific Islander, 16.4% from other races, and 4.4% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 32.5% of the population.
