Desert Shores is a census-designated place in Riverside County, California, United States. The population was 4,135 at the 2010 census, up from 3,122 at the 2000 census. It is located on the shore of the Salton Sea.
Desert Shores was established as a planned community in the 1960s. It is one of the few communities in the area that has access to utilities and services. The community has its own water and sewer system, and there is a shopping center and a post office.
The community is surrounded by desert landscapes. The nearest city is Indio, about 25 miles (40 km) to the southwest.
