Elkhorn CDP, California is a census-designated place (CDP) in El Dorado County, California, United States. The population was 1,485 at the 2010 census, up from 1,409 at the 2000 census. It is part of the Sacramento–Arden-Arcade–Roseville Metropolitan Statistical Area.
The Elkhorn post office opened in 1851, closed in 1852, reopened in 1855, and has been in operation since. The community was named after a nearby stream.
Elkhorn is located at 38°40′50″N 120°52′42″W (38.680987, -120.878325).
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 4.4 square miles (11 km2), all of it land.
