Georgetown CDP, California is a census-designated place located in El Dorado County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 2,367. The community is situated along State Route 49 and is about 3 miles north of Coloma. Georgetown was founded in 1849 as a gold mining town and was later named after George Washington. The town has a rich history and is home to many historic buildings. Today, Georgetown is a popular tourist destination with many shops, restaurants, and hotels.
